Chitwan was established as a national park in 1973. since then it has provided safety for the endangered species of Nepal including he one-horned rhino, the Royal Bengal tiger and various rare birds. Literally meaning 'heart of the jungle', Chitwan has a rich and deverse habitat, bordered by three rivers, in the fertile subtropical lowlands and the densely wooded slopes of the Churia Hill range.

The Park is host to over 500 types of bird as well as wild bear, monkey, leopard, deer and of curse, rhino, wild elephant and Royal Bengal Tiger. The park is vibrant and energetic landscape where nature is in harmony with the local Tharu People.
